How To Build A Foldable Bookcases
Foldable bookcases are ideal for holding textbooks, writing supplies, work materials or other essentials when you are busy at your desk. With its ability to collapse, the platform can bend down when not in use. With some basic tools, you can make a simple bookcase, folding desk in just a few hours.
Locate and mark the wall studs. Cut the plywood to its chosen dimensions. Paint the shelf. Let it dry. Apply a second layer if necessary. Mount the brackets to the posts with 2-inch wood screws. Use a level to ensure the supports are straight. If you are using the rocker screws, follow the package instructions. Place the shelf on the brackets with 1/4 inch wood screws.

Plan the future. Foldable stands may not be available at your local home improvement store but can be purchased online or through a specialty carpentry shop. When deciding on the width and depth of the shelf, do not exceed the width of the support by more than 2 inches. Leave free space for the folding platform without hitting the desk. If you can not find the studs on the wall, which are usually 16 inches in part, or if your platform will be shorter than 16 inches, use securing screws to mount the shelf from which the wall dries. Most home improvement stores will cut the wood for a fee.
